BLOOM WHERE YOU'RE PLANTED IS NOW

GOING GREEN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Newport Beach, California
September 25, 2008

No matter what industry we are in, the time has arrived to assess and take responsibility for the ecological footprint we are creating on our earth.Bloom Where You're Planted has bloomed in response to the call for action. By consciously holding the highest regard for our ecology, we have become a responsible steward to nature and its people. We recognize the Rights of Nature and now offer earth sustainable, eco-friendly, "green" and socially just products.

Sustainability is the ability of the current generation to meet its needs, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
..... United Nations 1987.

A "green" flower studio is one that is aware and use products recognized by Veriflora, Florverde, Rainforest Alliance, etc, which are farms from all over the world currently using sustainable practices in growing their flowers. Each is substantially reducing, changing and eventually eliminating toxic pesticides that are affecting our soil and groundwater. They have also implemented health, safety and wage standards. By using these farms we are supporting their efforts and influencing other farms to obtain certification, thereby conducting their business in a more sustainable way.

Other Bloom Where You're Planted green efforts include limiting the use of toxic and non-biodegradable floral foam, spray paints and leaf shines. We recycle containers and encourage our customers to do so as well. We are continually sourcing alternative recycled glass vases and Made in the USA containers. We consciously plan our driving routes and use a fuel-efficient Toyota Mini Van. We are even getting down to the nitty gritty details by decreasing the amount of paper towels and switching to dishtowels instead.

I traveled with the Pachamama Alliance to South America, our largest rose producer. While there, I experienced the majesty of the Andes Mountains and lived in the Amazon Rainforest with the Achuar Tribe. As our largest supply of life giving oxygen the Amazon Rainforest is in dire need of protection from oil, pesticides and deforestation. Although I had already been thinking along these lines, my journey made it very clear that I must take a stand no matter what size business I may have. All "go green" changes are good life sustaining changes. Please contribute your part by making earth conscious and socially just choices on the way your money is spent.

Be aware that we vote with our money. Ask for earth sustainable, socially just floral designs.
